What are some easy ways to skim off calories?
I am wanting to modify my eating habits to lose weight. I would like to know ways you skim off calories for anything you eat or drink. For instance; using katchup instead of mayonaise or baked potato instead of fries or lean ham instead of sausage for breakfast. Not so much a total change... just subtle ways to skim a little off here and there. Those calories add up!

- Mustard rather than mayo with tuna, or anything for that matter. I also keep fruit in supply when i need something sweet. The miniature dark chocolate hersheys will also cure a craving. I mash up cauliflower and add a drop of milk, garlic and some spray butter. This is a good imitation of mashed potatoes. I highly recommend weightwatchers.com too. I lost 70 pounds on the program and thier message boards have tons of suggestions! Good luck!!
- Well you necessarily need to use ketchup instead of mayo just use low fat mayo.
- instead of using whole milk or 2%, drink skim milk. eat low fat foods, and stay away from fast foods. eat tons of veggies and fruit, dont nibble during the day. no snacks. no candy bars....etc. Ketchup and mayo arent bad, but they do make a fat free katchup and mayo, they are hard to find and a little more expensive, but taste the same......
- Whole milk to Skim Cheese to 2% Cheese Pop to Diet Pop Increase Water intake White bread to Wheat Bagels to English Wheat Muffins Butter to Margarine Egg White Omelets Black Coffee Sugar Free Canned Fruits Burgers to Chicken Chocolate to Dark Chocolate Well done steaks More veggies then the main course Always eat a salad before any fattening meal Clear broth soups instead of cream base soups Just a few things I have done on my low cal diet
- Stop eating as much red meat and pork as possible. Stop eating anything that comes with extra salts or sugars. Stop drinking sodas(diet contains no sugars but its chemical makeup screws up your liver and other internal organs, regular contains at least twelve teaspoons of sugar). Start eating more fresh organic fruits for snacks and vegetables either raw in salads or stir-fried with tofu in extra virgin olive oil or steamed to bring out all of their natural flavors. This is not rocket science, a 5 year old can do it. Drink between 6 and 8 bottles of pure water every day and start to walk. Walk at least two miles every day and if you continue this regimen if you are like I was you will lose thirty pounds in thirty days and convert the rest to toned muscle. You will find you have more energy, more stamina, more vitality and more mental acuity than you have ever had in your life. If you do this for the rest of your life when you are well past middle age people you don't even know will be asking you what you are taking as an anti-aging supplement.
- Use mustard. Add more veggies and fruits. Start measuring your portions so you know how much you are really eating. Don't eat more than your alotted portion. Switch from regular popcorn to 94% fat free Drink water before you eat. Switch from chips to pretzels or pita. Instead of cheese and crackers, try tortilla (heated and crisped) and hummus. Use fat free salad dressing and skip the cheese and croutons. Get your dressing on the side and dip your veggies into it instead of pouring it on. Same goes for pancake and syrup. Eat frozen yogurt instead of ice cream. Lots of lower fat or lower calories snacks out there. Try Skinny Cow or Weight Watchers in the frozen section for examples. Use smaller plates.
- youre right. they do add up. try incorporating some lean meats into your daily eating, like turkey or roast beef. instead of drinking regular or whole milk, drink lowfat or skim milk. drink a lot of water. try to exercise regularly. all this will help really cut down on the calories. hope this helps.
- 1) Either quit eating dairy, or use only skimmed milk products. 2) Stop drinking sodas of any kind. They are ONLY empty calories and have ZERO nutritional value. I have a girlfriend who dropped 65lbs. by eliminating soda and going for an hour walk/day. 3) Switch to ground turkey instead of ground beef. 4) Eat fresh fruit for dessert. Desserts are LOADED w/ calories from sugar, butter, cream and chocolate! 5) Be careful w/ foods like lasagne, quiches, pizza, all Italian, French and Mexican foods, in fact ALL foods, that you didn't make yourself. These are loaded w/ calories, delicious, but loaded. They all can be very healthy cuisines, but you've got to watch the amount of fats, oils, meats, cream, cheeses, eggs and lard in them! 6) Don't eat out as much, or if you do, eat only half your entree and bring the rest home for lunch the next day. 7) Eat salads twice a day, and have a soup before lunch and dinner. People eat much less when they order soup first, studies show. Make sure it's not a cream based soup or a roux based soup, either. 8) Eat different kinds of fish (if you like it, and can eat it) 3-4 times/week. It's really good for you, and it's much lower in calories, than is pork or beef, provided you don't dump butter and cream sauces all over it, or don't eat it fried or deep-fried. 9) Go vegetarian for a good long while! 10) It is not humanly possible to eat too many vegetables or fruits. Juice them as well. Fresh juices are full of life, full of enzymes and vitamins and quite delicious. Good luck! Your weight loss will look wonderful on you, and will be soooooooooo good for your health! When I want a treat, I eat berries. Blueberries w/ lemon yogurt is incredibly good!
- what i learned is its not so much the calories that you put in your body but how much you put in, in food. i used to eat atleast 4 pices of chicken just because it tasted good with fries and drink 2liter 2-3 times a day and ended up weighing 520lbs then i wanted to get the operation done to lose the weight but found out it takes about a year to get done so i started to learn i was eating way pass the full point and that kept my gut streched out so i learned to get use to eating 2 pc then one large pc and my gut got smaller replaced cakes with jello and fruits now in less than one year i have lost 100 lbs with the help from working out not to build but to burn fat
