What is the fastest way to lose weight after giving birth?
I am 6 months pregnant and I will be attending a wedding around only 30 days after I will be giving birth. I want to lose weight and get in shape immediately. What is the best and fastest way to do so? I have heard plenty of things. Breastfeeding helps..but how? You can't diet when you breastfeed and have to actually eat 500 more calories than normal! So which way is better? Dieting, or breastfeeding? Also, which exercises will give me the best results? What do you think about pills like Hydroxycut etc. Thanks!

- Spend a good amount of time in the bathroom trying to take a sh1t.
- HA HA HA! It will come off in it's own time! I've heard that breastfeeding makes it come off quicker, but 30 days? Sorry, but you may be pushing it a bit! I only lost 2lbs after having my son and it took 3 months before I was not wearing maternity clothes anymore!
- i gained 40 pounds when i was preggers, and i lost all of my pregnancy weight. it wasn't easy, but it definitely can be done. this should help stop your post-baby weight gain and get you where you want to be: if you live where the weather is mild enough, the best thing to do is put the baby in a baby bjorn and go for long fast walks. if you can, find some streets with hills and -- the best -- steep flights of stairs. aim for 40 minutes of moving briskly. the added weight of the baby makes the walk even more efficient. also, before your walk, whenever you have 15 minutes without the baby in your arms, do one muscle group with free weights (or canned vegetables if you don't own weights). for example, do biceps curls one day, shoulder raises the next, sit ups/crunches, etc. do at least one group of muscles before your walk. and take one day (at least) when you don't do the walk and focus on leg muscles: squats, lunges, dead lifts all can be done at home. aim for 4 walks a week (5 if you can) and a different muscle group every day, resulting in a 3 or 4 day rotation. now, if it is too cold right now where you live, it is slightly more challenging. the weight work will remain the same. for the walks, you have a few options. hold your baby, put on some music, and dance around your living room. so a lot of knee bending. it may feel stupid, but the baby will love it, and if you can keep it up for 30 -40 minutes, it will give you great results. worse case scenario, go to a mall with the baby in the bjorn and walk as much as you can. don't take elevators. stick with it, and it will work. i promise. as for dieting, be very careful. don't eat fewer than 1800 calories a day at an absolute minimum: otherwise, you'll risk killing your milk supply AND slowing your metabolism. i would avoid any real diets and focus on eating small meals every 2 hours. make your meals high in fiber, protein, whole grains, and whole foods -- avoid processed stuff. keep your body clean and it will tello you what to eat. i have done that my whole adult life and it has always worked for me. you'll get there. good luck, and try to be patient; it'll be gone before you know it. eta: NO PILLS! they can be harmful, and they don't work. if they did, everyone would use them! people who have success with the pills expect to lose weight, so they eat less nd exercise more. it is easier to stay motivated when you think you are getting results, and some people get that feeling from the pills. don't waste your money!!
- Breastfeeding does help lose the weight. I lost an add'l 10 lbs in addition to all my baby weight. Your body has to work very hard to produce the milk, so even with the added calories, your metabolism is working hard. I would stay far, far away from diet pills. Especially if nursing. Just go for walks with your baby and eat sensibly.
- pushing your baby in a pram is a fab way to excerise and your baby gets lots of fresh air. Also not breast feeding just so you can diet is not a good idea. breastfeeding will burn off those extra calories very fast. I would recommend breastfeeding and keeping your diet healthy i.e. lots of fresh fruit and veg. Don't push yourself in to losing weight too quickly, it'll do more harm then good
- Honestly, 30 days is not enough for your body to bounce back. Remember that docs won't clear you for exercise until six weeks postpartum - that's more like 45 days after you leave the hospital with baby. Odds are that you'll drop some of the weight immediately - the baby itself, plus fluid, etc. And some women do bounce back quickly. But Hydroxycut isn't a good idea for you under any circs and while breastfeeding? You're passing it on to your baby, and last I checked, you don't want your newborn to lose weight. And to give up breastfeeding just so you can regain your shape? Sorry, that's pretty shallow. Even celeb moms take time to bounce back, and that's with personal trainers, private chefs and a squad of nannies. Instead of killing yourself to do the impossible, wait until you're a week or so before the wedding and go shopping. Buy a fabulous, flattering outfit that honors the body you have at that very moment. (Hint: if you do breastfeed, a v-neckline can call attention to your, ahem, best and most temporary assets.) Then hit the salon, get your hair highlighted and your nails done. And trust me - everyone will be blown away that you look THAT good so soon after giving birth.
- I gained 20 lbs with my pregnancy, I breastfed her and within the first 3 months and lost the 20 lbs plus an extra 10 with out any kind of dieting or real exercise. It was fabulous. Just eat normally and make sure that the extra calories you get while breastfeeding are good calories not from junk food. You probably wont have much time to eat after the baby gets here anyway :) It will also be good for your baby. Good luck
- Hey, I put 16 kilos during my pregnancy! And lost at least 6 kilos the first month and i did breastfeed (even though i didnt want to!) I also ate healthy meals that consisted mostly of meat and salad! Stay away from potatoes, bread and pasta! I lost the other 10kilos with the same diet my baby is now 4months and im back to my prepegnancy weight! And like someone else said best thing is to do your hair, nails and buy a new dress(dont worry you can tighten it once you lose those extra kilos) I had a christening party to go to on the 30th of Dec and had my baby on the 3rd Dec and i had lost some wight like i said and i had a dress that i bought whilst i was pregnant i got it tightened a bit, did my hair and bought some new shoes and got lots of real nice comments that night it was lovely! Hope that helps! Good luck and take care!
- By the time my baby was 2 months old I had lost all my baby weight plus some. My secret?.......no dieting, no exercising involved......just no sleeping! You will feel grosser than you've ever felt, stressed and nerves completely shot but just watch the weight come off!
