How many calories vs. how much exercise is needed to lose a healthy amount of fat per week?
If my basal metabolic rate is 1500 and you need to reduce that by 500 calories everyday to lose 1 pound a week - wouldn't that be unhealthy for me considering it's "bad" if you consume less than 1200 calories/day? Or should I eat normally but more healthy, and keep at/increase my workouts? What would be the healthiest way to go? My BMI is 22.9 I think - if that means anything. I am 5'8 and 145 pounds. I am trying to become more chiseled/toned. Thanks. I did get the calculations from the net, and from my doctor. That's what I posted! lol. I am asking how do I get more toned if it would be unhealthy to cut my diet --- would I need to drastically increase my work-out? That kinda thing...

- 22.9 is a normal BMI. You should eat in a way that is more filling with fewer calories so it won't be like you're depriving yourself. And that reducing by 500 for 1 pound is if you don't exercise. Exercise and then you wouldn't have to reduce by 500.
- eat healthy and work out and u wont have to lose 500 i bet.i think 22.9 bmi is healthy
- find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter your stats and it will tell you how many calories a day you need to maintain your weight. take 300-400calories off that number and that's how much you need to lose weight. eat 5-6 small meals a day instead of 3 big ones. 5-8 servings of fruit and vegetables a day. 8 glasses of water a day. 4-6 times a week cardio work out for 30-50min plus light weight training. no junk food, no sodas, no white flour (white bread, pasta, cookies, cakes etc)
