Would it be healthy to lose 30 pounds by June of this year?
I am 17 years old, 5' 7" and weigh 164lbs. I want to at least lose 30 pounds by June of this year, if that isn't healthy, I would at least like to lose 30 lbs by September, if not lose weight, make some of it MUSCLE. I want abs, not flab. :) Please, can you tell me a healthy way to lose weight?

- Run, drink plenty of water and eat lots of fruit.
- looks like you need it
- Eat right and exercise is the ONLY healthy way to lose weight GL
- Dang right it's healthy... just don't lose it by purging. Try exercise and eating a balanced diet.
- exercise sit ups, and squats are great
- I had a surplus of pounds in all the embarrassing places until I checked out acai berry, I understand they say that pills do not work, however they certainly worked for me, and they have been shown on CBS News too. There is a free trial happening at the moment at http://jugrass.esomnio.com , try it out, what is the worst that could happen?
- 30 pounds by June is a little aggressive. Articles that I've read usually say that losing 1 or 2 pounds each week is healthy. Make sure that you do strength training....that will help you tone up and get some muscle. For tips and videos, check out sparkpeople.com (it's free).
- crunches are fantastic. cut soda out of your diet (if you've been drinking sodas), replace it with water, exercise regularly, and control what you eat. i'm not sure if it's healthy or not, but that's what... two months? fifteen pounds a month? doesn't seem ridiculous to me.. also, if you start exercising and some of your fat turns to muscle, it's gonna weigh more than the fat, so don't freak out if you're either not losing weight or gaining.
- I hade the same problem... But this gonna help you http://burnupthefat.blogspot.com/
- Cut out pop completely. You have no idea how much even that helps. Cardio is your best bet. The wii fit has a lot of that, and is a lot of fun. Go for runs a couple times a week. Pretty much just get yourself into a routine. Decide what you are capable of doing, and plan it out for success. Good old crunches and eating healthy will help with those abs. Also don't think that all carbs are bad; your body needs carbs, just the right kind. Don't go chow down on pizza, but have a multigrain bagel and a lot of fruit to get your energy that way. Good luck, and be happy.
- yes it would be healthy if you dont starve yourself because let me tell you if you starve yourself your body will be nasty and flabby and its just grose my friends really fat sister did that and she looked NASTY! sooo what you should do is excersise and reduce your calorie intake to 1,000 calories. no more cookies or cake or icecream (whatever your weakness is) just healthy foods and eat small portions and drink at least a gallon of water a day. no joke.
- If you do it the healthy way, then yes it's healthy! Start running, aim for about an hour daily. It's going to be a bit hard at first, but trust me you'll get through it. This is the best way to burn calories and tone your body! (especially your abs!) Also do some type of strength training 2-3 times a week, whether doing some type of weight training-look into shape.com under their bikini body countdown, they have a lot of great videos to follow. I would recommend palates also, i use an at home dvd: Hit The Spot Pilates with Denise Austin, $10 at walmart. It's awesome! You have to be VERY strict with your diet also-mostely fruits/veggies, small amounts of calcium, protein, and whole grains. Lots of water Good luck!
- yes, it would be healthy to lose 30 pounds because your a tad bit overweight right now. try doing crunches everyday and jogging at least once everyday. check out this site to see if u have normal with all the weight u lose: http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/bmicalc.htm
- You're 5'7". These are ideal weights for someone of your height. Small Frame 123-136 Medium Frame 133-147 Large Frame 143-163 By June seems to be pushing it. Don't set yourself up for failure - make the goal a little bit easier and more realistic. Around 8 lbs a month is a good goal in my opinion. Eat LOADS of fruit and veggies, they're very good for you and if you eat various colors they'll give you a wide array of nutrients etc. Strength training is what tones you up. Cardio burns the excess fat.
- , My friend has been thinking about trying the Acai Berry. She heard on Oprah and Rachel Ray that it works really well. You might want to check it out.
